December 11, 2017 @ 6:30pm - Joslyn Sr. Center
Holiday Potluck and Watercolor West Slides
The December meeting will feature a slide presentation of the 49th Watercolor West International Juried Exhibition that runs until December 17th at the City of Brea Art Gallery. The Gallery is open Wednesdays through Sundays, Noon to 5pm. Entrants include painters on an international scale, including some of our CVWS members. This year's show was juried by internationally known artist, John Salminen.
Watercolor West was started in 1967 by a group of Southern California painters who banded together and founded a transparent watercolor society. The organization promotes the worldwide appreciation for fine art, using purely transparent watercolor, excluding all other media. It offers scholarships, exhibits, classes and demos. You can preview the winning paintings for 2017 and also from the past 5 years on their website at www.watercolorwest.org. You'll also find their schedule for upcoming classes and demos as well as a comprehensive listing of the websites for many other US and Canadian watercolor organizations and some shows. Their website is a valuable source of inspiration and resources for watercolor painters.
If you didn't sign up at the November meeting for the CVWS Holiday Potluck, or if you are able to volunteer to help with set-up, decorations, or clean up, please call or email Tracy Hartman.
